FATALITIES AT GLENBROOK CAMP',
Dear sir, — every week the number of
acccidents and fatalites are becoming al-
armlngly more frequent between Penrlth
and Sprlngwood, and whatever reason or
oxcuse may have been tendered, it is the
Imperative duty of the Government to
use at least resoaonable means to prevent
this unnecessry death roll of residents.
It Is qulte apparent that between work
ing hours men are compelled to forage
for necessary foodstuffs, hence many jour
ney lo Penrllh and Springwood. If the
same number of soldiers,, police or sail
ors, were encamped at Glenbrook for
any length of tlme, ample Htoroa of .food
stuffs, deemed necessary,' would be avall
able for all in camp, even to one or more
canteens for the sale of lntoxIcants.. Are
not those engaged in reproductive Gov
ernment worka worthy of as much con
sideration from the Crown as men em
ployed to maintain law and order? With
so many empty places ready for settle-
ment It would be far more ad'.anvanteous
to protect the lives of residents than
clamour for immigration from foreign
shores.
Yours respectfully,
ROBERT H LALOR
Seven Hills, 11/3/12.
