to have publioly indicated, in print,
the likelihood of the return of the
df'eadfol drought of 1887 8 9, and ,
complete reposition thereof in the

statement I now beg to enclose a
clipping from the ' Scrutineer/,
published at Moea Vale,'in 1888 (six
years before the drought commonood),
and at that timo edited by Mr
MoOonrt (the presont Speaker of the
Legislative ABBombly). This drought,
aB offlomlly stated, really eommenoed
in March,. 1895,rand oontinned on till
1890-7, ,and np to^tho presont year.
It has Uofc oompletoly gone yet, bat.
will (if weather history is repoated)

period. would also fprm a repetition
of the groat rain J that;: caused the big

and rose the water-lovol of Lako,
