From our correspondent .
' The-great storm which passed over
here a fortnight ago did an immense
amount of damage, beside washing the
line away. About 20 men, under Ganger
W Bunyan, are still at work. at the. wash
away. It will bo some time yet before?
all is cleared away, as there was an esti
■ mated quantity of 3000' tons of., stuff
deposited on the line, filling, up culvert,
drains, etc, and doing much damage.
Over 8 inches of rain, with much hail,
fell. Some of the hailstones were a great
size, and, in some places, pierced the iron
.roofing and blocked up all guttefs and
piping ; with the result that every house
in Glenbrook received much damage,
inside and out. . The hailstones laid here
frozen in big blocks of ice, for over a
week. All the gardens that were looking
so well before the storm are now a very
sorry sight indeed, not a leaf or bud re
maining. Big trees were torn down in
all directions. This was the biggest storm..
ever experienced by tho olddst residents -
