The Glenbrook Washaway.
It will bo remembered that In March last
a big washaway occurred on the Western
Railway line near Glenbrook. It was stated
in several metropolitan and country
journals that but for a flash ot ligntning
revealing the damage to a goods train
driver a serious disaster would have occurred.
At that time this journal stated that the
washaway was discovered by two brothers
named Skarrett, and while one went to
notify the officials at Glenbrook platform,
the other proceeded in the opposite direction
to warn the driver of a goods train, which
they knew was due in a few minutes. But
for their promptitude something serious
would have happened. The Railway Com
missioners have forwarded cheques for £25
each to Donald and Thomas Skarrett in
recognition of the valuable service they
rendcred to the. Department on that oc-
casion.
