WHAT was a well-known cinema in Glenbrook in the 1920s is now a family home on a sprawling estate – and it has been listed for sale.

No.33 Lucasville Rd is being offered for the first time in 26 years.

More than 80 years ago its original owners, the Brennan family, ran a free theatre every Saturday night at the site.

“Glenbrook was a bit of a society in terms of the theatre,” selling agent Phillip Chapman, of Chapman Real Estate, said.

“It was probably the more well-to-do people who went to the cinema; it was the equivalent of a club today.

“It does not have any resemblance to the theatre anymore but the house has evolved in terms of renovations and additions.”

The home’s few owners have gradually transformed it into a charming residence, featuring four bedrooms, a study, two living areas, two bathrooms, a large kitchen, outdoor entertainment areas and a double garage.

Mr Chapman said the property was “beautifully presented” and had parklike grounds.

“This is a landmark in its own right; it sits on the corner in one of the better streets of Glenbrook.

“It has got the high ceilings, lovely wide verandas all the way around and polished (timber) floors.”

The property has an asking price of more than $1.3 million.
