GLENBRQOK DEVIATION WORKS.
The Glenbrook deviation works have
now started, and soon the usually quiet
village will have its; population increased-
by the addition " of hundreds of railway
navvies. On Monday the railway engineers
took up thoir quarters at Glenbrook,
and at present there are two hundred
men there, constructing a feeding line,
which will' carry the gear, tools, and..
Stores, to the main railway camp,, about,
a mile from- the township. This feeding
line will go through the abandoned Zig-
eag cutting, and will be only for the use
of the main camp, where from one thous
and to twelve hundred navvies- are expect
ed to be quartered within a very short
time. The pay of the men, it is "estimat
ed, will amount to about £8000 per
month, and, believing that among the
great ..army of workmen , there will be
some daring spirits, the Glenbrook Im-
provement Society intends waiting on the
Inspector-General of Police, to ask that
additional policy be_ sent to Glenbrook
during the progress' of the deviation
works. ______
