SUPPLY
Owing to the alteration of ar
rangements for watering trains
ut Glcnbrook, and pending fur
ther improvements there, Mr.
Charles Towle, who hns been
employed there fore the last 18
months in attending to the wat
ering of trains, has come back
to Penrith, and Mr. J. Ensor, of
Lawson, is now in charge. Dur
ing the severe drought, and while
the duplication was going on, Mr.
Towle's duties were of the hard
est, but, by his obliging manner,
he had endeared himself to, not
only the employees, but the
townspeople as Well, all of whom
1 egret his leaving.
APPOINTING A BAILIFF
A special meeting of the Bench
of Magistrates was held last
Friday to consider applications
for the position of Small Debts
Court bailiff, rendered vacant
through the resignation of Mr.
E. G. Cooper, who has received
an appointment to the District
Court Office. Svdnev.
There were 41 magistrates
present, Mr, F. R. Wllslilrc be
ing voted to the chnir.
There were six applicants, viz.,
H. R. Price, Edgar Strickland,
J. W. Dunkley, W. H. Wrench,
E, J. Bissland,- and Jacob King.
The election was by ballot,
which resulted as follows: W. H.
Wrench 22, H. R. Price 13, E. J.
Bissland 3, Strickland, Dunkley,
and»King, 1 each.
After the election several
speakers deferred to the good
work done by Mr. Cooper, the
retiring bailiff, who suitably
responded. Mr. Wrench was call
ed In and several magistrates
congratulated him as the new
bailiff. Mr. Wrench suitably re
sponded.
A large number of magistrates
were afterward entertained by
Mr. L. Litton, J.P., at the Com
mercial Hotel.

ward town clerk at St. Marys
and secretary of the Hawkes
bury-Nepean Pastures Protection
