MISHAP ON THE RAILWAY.
PENRITH, Thursday.
About 2 o'clock this morning a stock train was
brought to sudden standstill between Knapsack
Bridge and Glenbrook Tunnel. It was discovered
that the axle of a sheep truck had broken.
Tho cause of the sudden stop was the application 01
the air brake through the pipe breaking. The truck
canted and the sheep got out. Although there were
about 120 in tho truck only six were smothered. The
traffic was only delayed for about two hours.
A goods train was stuck up in Glenbrook Tunnel
last night. The driver and fireman wore affected.
Half the trucks had to be cut off before the train
got through. Traffic was delayed for half an hour.
