Historical Lecture
To-night
In the Glenbrook School of
Arts hall at 8 p.m this Thurs
day evening, April 4, Mr, Mac
Leod Morgan, hon. treasurer of
the Ft.A. Historical Society, will
give an address illustrated by
slides embracing the Glenbrook,
Lapstone Hill, and Emu Plains
area.
It will outline early attempts
It will outline the early attempts
to explore the Blue Mountains,
culminating in the successful
crossing by Blaxland, Lawson.
and Wentworth, early settle
ment, the first road, Major Mit
chell's Road, D. W. Lennox, the
various and spectacular rail
routes up the eastern side of the
mountains, leading up to modern
times. At the conclusion of the
address Mr. Morfan will welcome
questions from the audience.
Mr. Morgan has, during the
past seven years, been engaged
on research on Bell's Line of
Road, the Bulga Road, and
regions westward of the Main
Dividing Range to the' Wolgan
and Colo Rivers.
For several years this lecturer
has been delivering addresses of
historical interest in Sydney and
before Blue Mountains and foot
hill historical societies and pro
gress associations.
The lecture tonight will be his
first to a Glenbrook audience.
Arrangements for this visit
have been made • by the Glen
brook branch of the Country
Women's Association. A few
months ago this branch put for
ward a suggestion at the Nepean
Group Conference that members
Interest themselves and other in
the history of their own districts.
The admission charge for the
function is 2/- for adults and Gd.
for children 7 to 14 years.
