THE GLENBROOK AVASHAW AY.
TO THE EDITOR OP THE HERALD.
I Slr,-Your correspondent of tho 28th Is en-
tirely wrong in the statement that "owing to
the fireman of the goods train going at great
risk through tho tunnel, etc, to Glenbrook, to
warn tho stationmaster, thereby saving tho
I tourist train bound for Sydney from rushing to
certain destruction after travelling through
the tunnel, causing .great loss of life," etc.
i It is an Impossibility for this train to leave
Glenbrook until tho goods train leavlng Pen-
rith at 6.30 and tho mail leaving Sydney 6.15
'p.m. pass through tho station, and as these
trains travel very slowly up the heavy grade
the drivers would notice if anything was
wrong, and pull up without any risk. It Is a
single line from Emu Plains to Glenbrook; the
tourist train cannot leave until lt gets the
staft from the mall train, therefore tho tourist
train was never in any danger.
Your correspondent of tho 20th complains
of the bad treatment tho passengers got at
Springwood. This statemont ls easily contra-
dicted, as tho local residents helped tho
stationmasters, who acted under Instructions
from the district inspector, in supplying hot
coffee, tea, sandwiches, etc.
MOUNTAIN RESIDENT.
