non, sought permission of Ka
toomba Council . this week to
erect a plant for the manu-
, facture of bricks on property
adjoining the Main Western
Road In the vicinity of the
Marked Tree.
Aids. Freelander and Scarf, who
are interested in the new company,
left the room; but before doing so
the former answered a number of
inquiries from his colleagues. .He
advised the Mayor that the com
pany's products would compare ;
more than favorably with the class i
of material being obtained from I
Sydney and Lithgow, and that pro
duction would include .the whole
range of bricks and, subsequently,
roofing and ordinary, tiles, and
pottery. Aid. Bailey was assured
that the buildings would be out of
sight of the Main ' Road, but with
r access to it, and Aid. Mating was
informed that the area of land (75
! acres) would not interefere with
Nellie's Glen. In rep)y to Aid. Hodg
son the speaker said much of the
capital had been "subscribed, and
he. anticipated an early start, with J
the erection of plant and buildings.
Council asked Inspector Thomas
to make a report available for next
meeting; but, individually, the al
dermen are happy to encourage
local industry..
