KATOOMBA
Production of a brick-

shortly at Katoomba at an
estimated cost of several
thousand pounds, is expected
to exceed 75,000 bricks a
week.
Spokesmen for Property
Construction and Finance
Ltd., which purchased the
works from Blue Mountains
Brick Company at an unmen-
tioned figure, said last week
it was proposed to commence
production at an early date.
Installation of modern
machinery, capable of un-
limited production, will be in-
stalled shortly at the works.
The Company later proposes
to manufacture agricultural
and concrete pipes at the
works. It is also intended to
commence production of
terra-cotta roofing tiles.
A director of the project,
Mr. E. B. Eagle, said the
Company hoped to encourage
establishment of secondary in-
dustries on the Blue Moun-
tains.
Mr. Eagle is a director of
Enfield Brickworks, and a
shareholder of Rupert Cook's
Brickworks, also of Enfield.
Other directors include Mr.
Harry Mason, chairman, who
is a director of co-operative
building societies in Sydney,
Mr. P. Renshaw, leading en-
gineer and bridge-builder,
Mr. A. G. Barnes, chief ac-
countant of Elliotts-Austra-
lian Drug Co., and Walter
Conn, sawmiller, of Stuart's

Managing Director of Own
Homes Pty. Ltd., Sydney, Mr.
W. R. Watkins, is assisting the
project.
Mr. Watkins is also spon-
soring the Company's project
at Sunny Ocean Beach Es-
tate, near Kempsey, North
Coast, where 1,200 home sites
are being developed.
It is understood the Com-
pany later intends purchasing
an estate on the Blue Moun-
tains, where a large home
building scheme will be put
into operation.
