I IMPROVEMENT. ASSOCIATION.
The usual monthly meeting of the
above association was held on Friday
evening of last weik, in the local
Sohool of Arts. Mr W T Waters, the
president, was in the obair.
After confirmation of the minutes
of the previous meeting correspondence
was read by the seoretary.
From the Bine Mountains Sbire
Ooonoil on the question of forming
streets, and from Mr A E Withy,
asking that Leslie Btreet be taken in
band without delay, tbe writer paint
ing oat that vehicular traffic is com
pelled to take to private property
rather than risk tbe dangers of the
street in its present condition.
Mrs Winchester wrote, suggesting
that the stieets Burroanding the Glen
brook Park should in fatare be oalled
Park Crescent.
It was deoided that tbe suggestion,
together with Mrs Withy'B oomplaint
concerning Leslie street, should be
forwarded to tbe Bhire ooonoil.
A letter from Mr Shallard, oom
plaining of timber-getters exploiting
the Governmeet reserves, was referred
to the park trustees.
It was deoided to thank the shire
oounoil for its prompt nation in clear
ing the spaoe between Ayre and Hill
streets.
The inadequate accommodation of
| the Glenbrook Public Sohool oame in
| for a deal of discassioa, arid id was
moved by Mr Howlett and Beoonded
i by Mr 8 W Riohes that the Parlia
mentary representative for the district
should be asked to arrange with the
Minister for Public Instruction for
hearing a deputation of the association
on the question.
Mr Donald Skarratt brought under
notice the fact that, under the new
postal conditions, the mail arriving at
night was not deliverable at the looal
post office until 9 o'olook next morn
ing.
The meeting deoided to ask tbe
poBtal department to close the Glen
brook mail in time for tbe " Fish"
train, so that letters may be given out
tbe same evening.
Mr Skarratt further suggested that
the post offjoe and telephone bureau
should be kept open for public con
venience until 9 p.m.
The suggestion was approved of by.

interview the postal authorities on the
question,
