Mrs D. Skarratt has just returned
from a visit to her son at Coonamble.
Mrs E. Izzard, senr., of York Estate,
is a patient in Nepean District Hos
pital.
Mr P. Frizell, senr., who is a patfent
in Nepean District Hospital, is making
good progress.
Mr Ted Paskin, who was in the
Nepean District Hospital for several
weeks, has returned home.
Mr and Mrs J. H. Newman, of Lem
cnijTGvc, Penrith, celebrated their
gclden wedding on Tuesday last.
Mr and Mrs J. R. Tipping, of Lem
cngrove, have been holidaying at
Broken Hill" with their daughter, Mrs
White.
Mr A. Frew, senr., has returned home
from the Nepean District Hospital. Mr
Frew, who is in his 78th year, came
frctn Scotland in 1883, and has been
a resident of Penrith since 1884.
Mr and Mrs J. H. Lack, of Campbell
town, and formerly of Penrith, cele
brated the silver anniversary of thel:
marriage on the 17th ultimo. Their
daughter, Miss Phyliss Lack, attained
her majority (21) on the same day.
The marriage of Mr Arthur E. Elk
ington, son of Mr and Mrs A. E.
Elkingtcn, of Penrith, and Miss
Dorothy J. Kinder, daughter of Mrs A.
M. Kinder, of Rockdale, will take place
at St. Stephen's Church, Penrith, on
Saturday, 27th inst., at 5.30 p.m.
"Miss Dulcie Hollier, youngest daugh
ter of Mr and Mrs A. Hollier, of
"Heather Brae," celebrated her 21st
birthday on Saturday last. She was
entertained by her friends, and was
the recipient of some very useful pre
sents, including a cheque.
Mrs Herb Jones and her daughter,
Unis, of Newcastle, were visitors to
Luddenham last week, and were the
guests of their uncle and aunt, Mr and
Mrs E. Hughes. Mrs Jones is a
daughter (Thursa) of Mrs A. Hughes
and the late Mr Thomas Hughes.
In appreciation of their assistance to
many of the vocal entrants of the
Methodist competition held last week,
Mr and Mrs A. Honey were tendered a
surprise^party at the residence of Mrs
H. E. Phillips on Tuesday evening,
when a card table and two packs ol
cards were presented to Mr and Mrs
Honey by Mr C. Werner, on behalf of
the company, at a dainty supper served
by the ladies. Competitions and
musical items added to the enjoyment
of the evening, the competitions being
won by Mrs K. Stanton, Miss M.
Collins, and Mr Liversidge.
A farewell and presentation, arrang
ed by a citizens' committee, in con
junction with the R.S. and S.I.L.A., was
tendered to Mr and Mrs H. E. Maiden,
at the Literary Institute, Lawson, on
Tuesday, 26th May, prior to their de
parture to Sydney. Mr Maiden has
accepted an appointment as clerk to
Bankstown Municipality, after havlne
been shire clerk at Lawson for six and
a half years. Mrs Dyer (president oi
the ladies' auxiliary) presented Mrs
Maiden with o Royal Doulton tea set
and Cr. Percy Wilson (President of the
Shire) presented Mr Maiden with a
cheque, on behalf of their friends.
