WEALTHY ESTATES.
WILL OF THE LATE Mr. C. C. SKARRATT.
Some time ago the death was announced in the
" Sydney Morning Herald " of the late Mr. Chârles
Carleton Skarratt, ot Carleton, bummer Hill, Svdney,
but lately residing in London The deceased was the
proprietor of tho Royal Hotel, Gcorge-Street, and or
much other valuable property in Sydney. Mr
Skarratt's will having provided for the payment to
Mary Ellen Skarratt, his widow, of £3000 for her
immedtste use, also directs, by a codicil, that P3OOO a
year be paid to her so long; as sho is residing with his
daughters, Violet and Daisy Skarratt, or with either
of them, for the purpose of defraying the cost of the
maintenance of their joint home In addition, under
the will, deceased's widow is bequeathed all personal
and domestic valuable«, furniture, unit oileots, to-
gether with the use and enioymcnt of any residence
belonging to tho decease!, subjuct to keeping the
house tully insured, and paying rates and taxes
thereon. The testator's widow, with his son-in-law,
Thomos Henry Keigwin, Walter Russell 'Hall, and
Kelso King, are made executors and trustees of the
estate, provision being made for remuneration of
certain of them. To Fanny Skarratt, widow
of the late William C Skarratt, tes-
tator's brother, is bequeathed an anuuitv of
£210. Subject to these deductions the residue of the
estate is vested in the trustees to pay to the deceased's
wife a moiety of the annual income for her sole and
separate use, and after the payment thereof the in-
come is to bo made available fo r the testator's chil-
dren, Thomas Carleton Skarratt, Charles Sydney
Skarratt, Mary Elllen Bridge (wife of John Charles
Edward Bridge), Emilv Carleton M'Quade
(wife of Frederick M'Quade), Lucy Ann
Theobaldt (wife of Henrv Charles Gordon Eyre
Theobald), Amv Carleton ICeinvwn (wife of Thomas
Henry Keiswin), ViolntlSkarratt, and Dusy Skarratt.
The ßraiidctuldreu of the deceased succeed to the
shares of the children by substitution in the event of
any of the latter being dead Tho testator has given
power tq tho trustees, at tho request in wilting of
either of his sons, to raise out of the cipital of such
?on'« share any «um or sums not exceeding in all
X10,000, and to pay the ninney« so raised to SULII suns
for their use absolutely, lhe following legacies are
mentioned -£103 to each of the eight children of
the testator's deceased brother, William C Skarratt,
£100 to the testator's nephew, Harry Erothwood ,
and £100 to the testator's niece, Alice Ward, of
Kington, Herefordshire, England.
